Foster McCarl, Jr. formed McCarl's Plumbing &
Heating Company in 1946 after being discharged
from the Air Force. The company quickly established itself as a reliable and
dependable plumbing and heating contractor with an eye towards the future.
The Company concentrated its early efforts on residential and light commercial markets, with integrity
as the foundation of its growth. The McCARL
Way ® was conceived as a standard of life for all company employees.
In 1949 McCarl's was
incorporated in the state of Pennsylvania. As the industry advanced, the
company became
involved in air conditioning, sheet metal and process piping.
Listed below are
some milestone dates in the history of the Company:
1973 - Altoona
operation was opened, performing all construction work in Central Pennsylvania.
1976 -
Name was changed to McCarl's, Inc.
1980 -
Service Department expansion took place
1981 -
Outside directors were brought into the firm
1983 -
Safety Department was formed
1985 -
Purchasing Department was developed
1989 -
McCarl's Process Systems originated as an affiliated company specializing
in industrial water and wastewater treatment.
1990 -
Support Services Department was formed.
1991 -
McCarl's Services, Inc. was formed as a spin-off, owned and operated
by Kevin McCarl and located in Cranberry Township, PA
1997 - S. P. McCarl & Co., Inc. was formed as a spin-off, owned and operated
by Shawn P. McCarl and located in Altoona, PA.
S. P. McCarl & Company, Inc. ownership is presently held by Shawn P.
McCarl.
