Peer Group

S.P. McCarl & Company, Inc. has the great fortune to be part of a Peer Group affiliation in conjunction with the Mechanical Contractors Association of America.

Our Peer group is a group of mechanical contractors located in different parts of the country that have no competing boundaries with one another.

The purpose of the peer group is:

Perform a review of each other's business operations.
Develop an A-Z peer group manual on how your company was formed and how each of us operate our business.

S.P. McCarl & Company has been part of a peer group since its' inception and Shawn McCarl has had peer group experience and relationships for over 15 years.

The Critique Process:

The best part of a peer group is the Critique Process. This process involves each company and cycles every 3-4 years. The company that is having the Critique conducted to them host's each of the other member's personnel by setting up hotel and meal accommodations during their visit. The Critique Process takes 3 days in length. During this 3-day critique, the peer group tours the business facilities, interviews employees and then develops a report reflecting strengths, weaknesses and a list of recommendations. The other unique concept of this process is that while the Peer Group is developing their report, they tape record their conversation. This is powerful so the business owner can gain insight behind each strength, weakness and recommendation. After the report is formulated and the Peer Group company's head back home, they sit down with the Business owner and present their report. It is expected that the company who just received the Critique take actions on the recommendations and report this back to the other Peer Group members. No action can result in termination from the group.

Our Peer Group Experience:

To date S.P. McCarl & Company has had 2 critiques conducted on them and have found the experience to be extremely powerful and feels that it has played a large part in the company's early successes.
